The Word was an ambitions first phase development. Designed by Faulkner Brown and constructed by Bowmer and Kirkland, Ward Robinson were Project Manager working for Muse Developments.
Developed for South Tyneside Council, The Word is a new state-of-the-art cultural venue in South Shields’ overlooking the refurbished Market Place. The ambition is for The Word to be the home for North East writing talent. The building acts as a hub of literary and creative resources and inspiration offering the most innovative digital learning experiences, as well as a library of over 70,000 books.
